If you want to make a quilt, but you are not sure where to look for your material and accessories, first think about the materials you need. You will need material for the top of the quilt, the bottom of the quilt, as well as the batting for the center of the quilt.
Before you go to the store looking for these items, look around your house to see what material you have available. If you can find workable materials, it will save you time and money, as you have already paid for it. You can also use old clothes, even jeans for your quilt. Any material will do for your quilt, but it must be similar material for the same quilt. It is not good to mix jean material and cotton material, as it will not flow correctly.
If you don’t have any material you would like to use at home, then you can go to shops or stores where they sell the material by the bolt. Places like Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann’s Fabrics, Hancock Fabrics, and Spectors will give you a great selection from which to choose your material for the quilt. Or you can go to a local quilt shop or even shop online for your material, patterns, supplies, and pattern books. Be prepared to pay more at quilt shops, as the fabrics they carry are of the highest quality.
Whatever you choose will help you make the great quilt you desire to make and use for years to come. Shopping for your quilting material is just like shopping for clothes. You have to just look at the materials available and choose the perfect ones for you.
