There are plenty of opportunities to buy any and all of the items needed for quilting from online retailers. By doing a search for quilting, one comes up with tons of websites that feature quilts for sale, materials, how to's, and much more. Deciding what you want before you do a search will probably help to narrow things down faster.
There are websites that have databases of local quilt supply shops, if you want to find out where the nearest quilting specialty store is. They also list locations for some of the larger chains of fabric stores such as Joann Fabrics, who have online stores that you can shop at.
There are even websites that will fetch the information for you. All you have to do is look at the list and compare the prices. Sites like this can be helpful but are sometimes very narrow on their searches, so it can cause wasted time also. In the end, these types of websites can be used if you prefer them, but they might not necessarily be the best option for most.
There are websites that are just fabrics, some that are just batting, and some that are just finished quilt products. You can find just about anything you can imagine somewhere online, but sometimes it's better to just find one site you really like and stick with it for most of the stuff you are looking for. By purchasing everything from one place, you would end up saving money on shipping in the long run. Once you find a website with tons of choices, you can get lost for hours looking at all of the stuff available.
