Quilting Retreats

For the avid quilter or the beginner trying to learn the basics of quilting, there are wonderful retreats being held all across the nation specifically designed for quilters. These retreats involve spending a few days or a week in the company of fellow quilters, learning new techniques and exchanging quilting tips.

Some retreats are not only quilting retreats but include quilting shows and contests. There are hotels and inns that specialize in holding quilting retreats and quilting workshops. California has a large number of quilting retreats and The Stitchin Post, in Sisters, Oregon holds several retreats and workshops throughout the year. Most of these are held in the late spring and summer due to Oregon's weather making some of the area impassable.

Quilting retreats are geared towards all types of quilters, from beginners to the more experienced. This gives you an opportunity to learn new stitches or relearn old stitching methods. Many retreats also have quilting patterns for sale or trade. Others will have patterns that can be shared with everyone free of charge. Quilting materials are also available, as are quilting kits that come complete with pattern material and thread.

The experienced quilter that is considering entering a contest or a quilting show can also take other types of classes at these retreats. They offer many types of classes on things like fabric dying, knitting, or special quilt designs using creative imagery. These quilting retreats are an opportunity to meet new people that enjoy the same passion for quilting as you do.
