Quilting Retreats

Wouldn't it be nice to have a week-end away from the kids and spouse. Quilting retreats are usually a week-end get-away. It provides an outlet to get together with other quilters and enjoy your craft. Many groups include quilting clubs, church groups, sorority sisters, or just a group of quilting friends who want to get away for the week-end and quilt uninterrupted into the night. Some retreats are just for a week-end and others can be longer. One retreat in The Hill Country of Texas is for five days.

If you are the adventurous type, there is a bed and breakfast quilt shop in the mountains of Idaho. One retreat in Somerset, Ohio has nice accommodations for quests for a week-end as do all other Inns. I am sure there are many retreats around the country and you just have to research to find the times and locations. These retreat facilities have craft rooms large enough for your sewing machine and special lighting so you can quilt into the wee hours of the morning. Reservations are needed since some facilities are small and may only have room for 15 to 20 guests.

Do your research; there are retreats in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Texas, Washington and Ontario, Canada. There are many more to be found on the Internet. Check them out to find out locations and dates for the retreats. Pack your sewing machine and quilting materials. Then you can head off to the nearest or farthest retreat you can find and quilt into the night. Enjoy an escape and quilt your heart out.
