Shop hopping for quilting material has become the new craze for those who love to make quilts. The shops give out passports or cards that the patrons have to get stamps put on when they visit a shop.

It is a quilters dream all over the country. Nevada has been having an Annual Quilt Shop Hop Contest. One has to visit all five shops in the valley to get a stamp in the Shop Hop Passport from all five shops in order to have a chance to win one of the top three prizes.

The purpose of these shop hops is to get people going to all of the stores instead of just one. It is also a good way for the quilters to get to see just what kind of material each one has that is different from the other. It also lets them see all the new items that are out.

There are so many new fabrics and kits that one could shop all day and have a variety of choices for quilts. There are even sweetheart shop hops and every holiday you can think of. Even sports are not left out of this craft. There are many men who would appreciate a quilt with some ducks or some fish on a hook. So the fabric picking is not for the ladies only as some men want to pick out their own pattern. Most of the men lean toward sports such as football or baseball with their favorite team of course.
