Quilting is a favorite pass-time for people of all ages. It was something their grandmothers did and their mothers, and they keep the tradition alive by quilting quilts for their loved ones. Even younger women have started to quilt, learning the techniques of quilting from their grandmothers or taking lessons at local fabric stores. Quilting is a great hobby to learn, because if you learn to make a nice, quality quilt, the memories associated with it can last a lifetime.
In quilting, you can use many different types of fabric.
Some people, who are very talented in the art, can use just about any type of fabric and turn it into a nice quilt. They can take old pieces of clothing or favorite baby blankets and turn the scraps into quilting squares that make nice memorabilia. For those who are just starting and don’t know where to find quilting material, there are stores where you can buy material that is very reasonable in price. If you are an expert in quilting, there are stores where you can spend top dollar on expensive pieces of material. It just depends on what you are looking for.
If you are a beginner or even if you are experienced in quilting, Wal-Mart has a sewing department where they carry bulk selections of material for quilting. You can get material at other fabric stores too, like Jo-Ann’s, or Hobby Lobby. Even Ebay has a section on their website where you can find quilting materials, even vintage or hard to find materials. It all just depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend.
